RIMMEL Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch Review

My favourite look for Spring/Summer is always a golden tanned sun-kissed look! We all like to look glowing & healthy right?!

To add to my collection of highlighting products I picked Rimmels new Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch RRP £4.99.

This product is available in 2 shades - Radiance Rose and Shimmering Sand. The Radiance Rose looked absolutely gorgeous but reminded me a lot of Benefits High Beam which I already have so I skipped that and picked up the more golden tone - Shimmering Sand!

The highlighter has warm hues of gold, and beige with a eye catching shimmer which looks great in the light!

To apply this I squeeze a pea size on my finger - I then dab this between 2 fingers and gently apply on my cheekbone and then any leftover on my brow bone.

Before you apply make sure you have already powdered as this could make it loose its glisten. I like to apply mine in this order - primer, concealer, foundation, powder, highlighter, bronzer, blusher... and then you can always add some powder highlighter on top so it really stands out. Mac Soft & Gentle looks great!!!

Overall I give this product 4/5 it's very similar to Benefit Sun Beam but a quarter of the price!!!

Have you tried many highlighters? What's your favourite one?

Boots Haul - 3 for 2 Heaven

Over the weekend I popped into Boots to take advantage of the current 3 for 2 Offer!!!

When I'm in Boots I find it so easy to get carried away.... the bright lights, the delicious cocktail of perfumes, and of course - end less makeup! I usually end up leaving 30 minutes later covered in lipstick swatches and clutching a few new items to try out/add to my growing collection of products.

First on my wish list was Lee Stafford Argan Oil. Moroccon Hair Oils have been massive over the last 24 months - I already have L'oreal Mythical Oil from an old Glossybox but I wanted to try a different one. This was £11.99 for 50ml... Review coming soon!

From the Lee Stafford range I also purchased Bleach Blondes Shampoo & Conditioner. I hate it when my blonde highlights go brassy so purple shampoo really helps combat that - I've tried I few different ones but I really can't recommend this enough - these were £6.39 each

Barry M Gelly Nail Varnish - my friend let me try this a couple of days ago and I fell in love instantly so had to pop out and buy some. I choose the colours Papaya, Light Blue & Pink - £3.99 each

Benefit They're Real - INCREDIBLE. That is really all I can say!!! I'll be posting a review this week but I am in love with this mascara - £19.50

Benefit Fake Up - This product has been recently launched so I thought I'd pick it up to give it a go. My drawer of concealers seems to be growing very rapidly in the search for a bag eraser - £18.50

My overall bill came to around £55 after discount which I think was very reasonable for the amount/quality of products I picked up. The Benefit products weren't included in 3 for 2 but the lovely ladies popped in some samples to try.

Everybody loves a sample ♥

Have you taken advantage of the 3 for 2 offer? What's your opinion on Benefit Fake Up?

Hummingbird's Chocolate Whoopie Pies...

Whooooooppie Pie <3
As well as a love of all things beauty I also like a dabble in the kitchen! My favourite thing to make is definitely baked goods, cookies, cakes, and anything sweet!

I already owned The Hummingbird Cookbook and for Christmas I got the newer one... CAKE DAYS

The books contains SO many recipes which are all themed (Birthdays, Easter, Valentines Day and lots more!) Whenever I flick though the pages it's always the pictures that attract me - nom nom!

The Chocolate Whoopie Pies are the first thing I've tried making, the book said they're their best selling Whoopie Pie and lets be honest... who can't resist something so chocolaty and delicious.

INGREDIENTS

For the Sponge
1 large egg
150g (5.5ozs) Caster Sugar
125g (4.5ozs) Plain yoghurt
25ml (1fl oz) whole milk
¼ tsp vanilla essence
75g (2.5oz) melted unsalted butter
200g (7oz) Plain Flour
80g (3oz) Cocoa Powder
¾  tsp bicarbonate of soda
¼ tsp baking powder
Filling
170g (6oz) unsalted butter
280g (10oz) icing sugar
220g (8oz) vanilla marshmallow fluff

- Cocoa Powder - Vanilla Extract - Baking Powder -
Fluff (Purchased at n American shop)
Look at that GOOY-NESS!!!

METHOD
1/ Using a mixer cream the egg and sugar until fluffy. Pour the milk, yoghurt and vanilla essence into a bowl and mix together. Then add this mixture in with the beaten egg an sugar. Finally add in the melted butter and mix in thoroughly.
2/ Sift together the remaining dry ingredients, and then to the creamed mixture and mix well on a medium speed.
3/ Now place the batter mix in the fridge to rest for 20-30 minutes.
4/ Pre-heat the oven to 170C (325F), Gas Mark 3 and cover two baking trays with baking parchment.
4/ Once rested, spoon or pipe onto the baking trays making 8-10 mounds per tray. These need to be 2-3 cm spaced apart and around 3 -5 cm in diameter.
5/ Bake for 10-13 minutes or until they spring back when touched.
6/ Remove from the trays and place on a wire rack. They need to be completely cool before adding any filling to them.
7/ To make the filling mix the butter and icing sugar together using a hand whisk or standing mixer.  Once this is blended add the marshmallow fluff and then mix on a high speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes as this will firm up the mixture slightly.
8/ To sandwich the pies, take one sponge and spread a tablespoon of filling on one flat side. Follow this with sticking another sponge, flat side down onto the filling to make a sandwich. Continue this process to make the other whoopie pies.

In the over they go... I cooked mine for 13 minutes

Leave to cool for 30 minutes
VOILA!

Have you tried any recipes from The Hummingbird Bakery cookbooks?
